A plant-based diet is a lifestyle change that focuses on eating primarily plant-based foods. Which includes fruits and vegetables, but also nuts, seeds, oils, whole grains, legumes, and beans.
A vegetarian diet mostly consists of plant-based foods and excludes meat, poultry, and fish. However, these are the different vegetarian diets:
Lacto-vegetarian: Includes dairy products but excludes eggs.
Ovo-vegetarian: Includes eggs but excludes dairy products.
Lacto-ovo vegetarian: Includes both dairy products and eggs.
Vegan: Excludes all animal products, including dairy, eggs, and honey
Beans, peas and lentils are an excellent source of protein! Tofu, tempeh, quinoa, nuts and seeds are also good options.
Seasonal vegetables, beans and rice are great affordable options!
Avoid relying solely on carbs and overly processed foods.
